If you send us a card

Your name and email, if you give them, are stored privately and used only to contact you about what you sent. They are never shown on the site and are kept apart from the public record of the recipe itself. Both are optional — you can submit without either.

We store a one-way hash of your IP address, salted, purely to stop someone dumping a thousand images at once. The address itself is never written down.

If you are named on a card

Contributor profiles can include a name, a photograph, dates, a hometown, and biographical notes. Whoever submits a profile is asked to confirm they have permission to share it, and a person reviews every profile before it is published — but we are relying on that person’s word, and we know it.

So the door stays open in the other direction: ask us to remove or correct anything and we will. You do not need to prove who you are to ask, and we will not require a reason we find satisfying.

Accounts

You do not need one. If you choose to sign in, authentication is handled by Clerk and we store only the account identifier so we can show you what you have contributed.

Transcription

Card images are sent to a third-party vision model to be read. Do not upload a card that has something private written on the back — a medical note, an address, a letter — without checking it first.
